Larbin
A personal assistant you text, or simply talk to.
Larbin is a private assistant built by Yann Jaffrennou for personal use. It lives in Telegram (and in a terminal), runs on Claude, and takes care of the small and not-so-small things of everyday life, in French or English.
What it does
- Remembers. People, plans, trips, preferences: Larbin keeps its own notes and keeps them up to date, so you don't repeat yourself.
- Reminds. “Remind me to call the plumber tomorrow at 9” and, at 9, a nudge. Recurring reminders and daily check-ins too.
- Knows your calendar. When you're free, what's coming up, and new events when you ask.
- Tracks your numbers and your days. Send a screenshot of a run or a night's sleep and it logs every value; tell it when you start and stop work, or where you're staying. Then ask “how did my sleep evolve this year?” or “how many days in La Rochelle?”.
- Brings in specialists. Pick a squad: trainers (running, sleep, time management), teachers (philosophy), a news concierge, more to come, each with your goal. Larbin follows each one's method: a plan built from your own data, lessons, regular check-ins, adjustments along the way.
- Listens. Send a voice message instead of typing; Larbin reads it like any other message.
- Uses the web. It searches and reads pages, and can use websites like a person: open a page, click, fill in a search, show you a screenshot.
Safe by design
- You stay in charge. Anything that commits you on a website (booking, buying, sending, signing up) waits for your “yes” in your next message. Passwords and card numbers are never typed by Larbin.
- You take over when needed. For a CAPTCHA, a security code or a payment confirmation, Larbin sends you a private, short-lived link to its browser, so you do that step yourself from your phone.
- A specialist is not a doctor. Specialists say plainly when something needs a doctor, a therapist or another professional.
Who it's for
It is not a public service. Larbin only answers its owner and the few people the owner explicitly adds as contacts. Contacts can ask when the owner is available or leave a message; they never see anything else.
When Larbin is connected to a Google account, it reads calendar events to answer questions and find free slots, and, only where the owner allows it, creates events. How all data is handled, and which providers are involved, is described in the privacy policy.
